On Saturday, April 26th our 8th Annual Bark in the Park was held at New Quarter Park in Williamsburg.  Over 700 people attended our wonderful event this year.  Walkers and sponsors this year raised a large amount of money for our needy animals at the Shelter.

Mark your calendars for April 25, 2009 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at New Quarter Park in Williamsburg!

Here’s all you need to do to participate:

• Ask friends, neighbors, & co-workers to sponsor your walk. You do not need to get pledges per mile.
• Urge your sponsors to pledge a minimum of $5 to $10 so that more animals can be helped.
• Bring your pets to walk with you, but you don’t need a pet in order to walk.
• Bring all of your pledge money and Registration/pledge sheet, RAIN OR SHINE, to New Quarter Park, Williamsburg, on Saturday, April 25, 2009 any time between 9 am and 1 pm to qualify for great prizes!
• All prizes will be handed out the day of the event at 1pm.  You must be there to win!

A few Doggone Notes…

• All dogs must be current on Parvo, Distemper and Rabies vaccinations, and be at least 6 months old.
• All people entering with pets will be asked to sign a participation waiver.
• Please use "doggie" bags provided to keep the park clean for all participants.
• Pets must be under control at all times. Unruly participants will be asked to leave.
• All canine participants must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. No retractable leashes, please.
• Use good judgment regarding the temperament of your pets so that this event will be enjoyable for all. Please do not bring a female dog in heat.

The Festival and Walk will be held at New Quarter Park, Williamsburg.

From Williamsburg: Take Rt. 143. Turn left onto Penniman Road (641).  Turn Left onto Hubbard.  Go .9 miles.  Turn right onto Lakeshead.  Entrance to the park is 1.3 miles straight down.

From Richmond or Newport News: Take I-64 to exit 242A (Rt 199).  Take Rt 143 West.  Turn right onto Penniman Road (641).  Turn left onto Hubbard.  Go .9 miles.  Turn right onto Lakeshead.  Entrance to the park is 1.3 miles straight down.

From Colonial Parkway:  From Jamestown:  Take Queens Lake Exit.  Go right towards Queens Lake .1 mile.  Turn right onto Lakeshead.  Entrance to the park is 1.3 miles straight down.  From Yorktown:  Take Queens Lake Exit and go right at stop sign.  Take first left onto Lakeshead.  Entrance to the park is 1.3 miles straight down.
