Events
If you
are interested in helping with any of these events please call Donna Wixson, 757-221-0150 or submit your information through our contact us page .
Williamsburg Antique Mall Booth
A booth at the Williamsburg Antique Mall was offered to us without charge in return for our members donating time on Fridays to help out at the front desk. This group collects donations, prices them and sets up displays in the booth. Help is needed particularly with the front desk work. If you have items to donate, please contact Christie Chipps Peters at 757-221-0910 or submit your information and questions on our contact us page .
NonEvent
In February we solicit donations NOT to attend an event. A drawing is held at the end of the solicitation period, and a prize is awarded to the winner. We have had a weekend at Wintergreen Resort as the prize. This event requires help with the invitation poem, mailings, and the prize drawing.
Bark in the Park
This event is held on a Saturday morning in April and includes a bake sale, shelter store booth, dog item sales from the auxiliary as well as a dog walk. Participants in the dog walk seek sponsors for their individual walks to raise money for our sheltered animals.
Help is needed for signs, distribution of brochures, registration, advertising, manning the various sales sites, assisting with set up and take down, and of course participating in the dog walk.
5K "Run For Their Lives"
The Annual 5K "Run For Their Lives" occurs each fall and is currently being held inside Ford's Colony. Awards, Door prizes, T-shirts, and Refreshments are offered to Runners and Walkers of all ages. A 1 Mile Fun Run, and a 1/4 Mile Toddler Trot (ribbons for all!) make this a fun and healthy family event.
Help is always needed the day of the event with refreshments and processing Runners and Walkers.
