2010 Puttin' On The Tenor, A Concert To Benefit The Animals-

A Bone-A-Fide Success!!

On behalf of the Heritage Humane Society (HHS) Auxiliary, we thank everyone who attended and supported our March 28th benefit concert, “Puttin’ On The Tenor, A Concert To Benefit The Animals,” featuring celebrated tenor, Anthony Kearns, one of The Irish Tenors.  Mr. Kearns performed a wide variety of songs, arias, and ballads to an almost full house at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall!  He was accompanied by his good friend, Patrick Healy, an extremely talented musician, and a wonderful comedian to boot!  The stage was decorated beautifully with living plants and flowers reminiscent of an Irish landscape, compliments of the Ulster American Homestead Garden Center.  Premium ticket holders also enjoyed a post-concert reception with both performers, sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence Marchelya, and catered by William & Mary Catering.  Champagne and wine were compliments of The Cheese Shop and The Wine Seller.

This event was the first of its kind for the Auxiliary, a fund raising arm of the HHS.  We thank our Tenor Committee, who devoted seven intense months to this event: Larry and Sherri Marchelya, Vern and Geraine Stocker, Arnie and Kevel Gutman, Sharon Hesse, Lillian Campbell, and Judy Behrens; and the other Auxiliary members who helped us throughout this effort.  We also thank Aleck and Ann Loker for helping bring Anthony and Patrick back to Williamsburg!  Further, thanks to The Virginia Gazette, Daily Press, WAVY News 10, WMBG, WY Daily, WBACH, and The Tide for their generous coverage of this event; and to Barnes & Noble - College Bookstore for the use of their window, and other businesses and organizations that displayed our posters and flyers.

And, last, but certainly not least, we thank our many generous sponsors who covered all of the event expenses, and then some!  Due to this outpouring, we were able to net over $25,000 for the Shelter!  We were overwhelmed by their generosity, especially in these lean economic times.  We encourage everyone to thank them personally, and patronize the businesses listed below in gratitude for their support of the animals:

Feline Pride: Larry and Sherri Marchelya; Top Dog: Chesapeake Bank; United Way; Doug and Janis Wood; and WY Daily, WBACH, and The Tide; Bone-A-Fide Winner: Vern and Geraine Stocker; Cat’s Meeeow: Bay Rivers Group Wealth Advisors; Great Wolf Lodge; Arnie and Kevel Gutman; Don and Linda Baker; Don Snyder; Sebastiana G.
